Heather graduated from Leeds School of Medicine in 2008, and completed her GP training in the Yorkshire area, becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2013. She started work with a local GP surgery in North Yorkshire, where she remained for 10 years, and now works in a select few local practices. It was in the NHS that she developed a keen interest in Women’s Health, became a trained contraceptive coil fitter, and where her passion for quality menopause care was ignited.
She has pursued this special interest, developing experience and building knowledge, joining the largest Menopause Centre of Excellence in Europe, the renowned Newson Health 2.5 years ago. Heather has completed her Menopause Care Special Skills Module with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, and the full Confidence in the Menopause accreditation, and has worked with 1000s of women to help smooth the hormonal transition of peri-menopause into menopause, and beyond.
Heather is passionate about improving the health and quality of life of the women she sees. She has an interest in Lifestyle and Functional Medicine, having recently completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice module via the IFM, as well as other Functional Hormone Conferences. She hopes to further her learning in this area and continue integrating the holistic approach into her care.
She is excited to be working with Sue to deliver this event to be able to help educate and empower women through their menopause journey.
In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two small children, reading and furthering her learning, and using the gym to keep fit and active.
